Lymphatic drainage is one of the most popular techniques because it has many benefits in terms of aesthetics, physical and especially in detoxification.
1.What is the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system is part of the circulatory system, being responsible for the exchange of substances between blood and tissues. It takes over metabolic residues or other possible harmful elements for filtration, protecting the immune system and thus protecting the body.
The lymphatic system comprises a network of vessels through which lymph is transported to the lymph nodes for purification. From the age of 30 onwards, persons metabolic rate drops by approximately 5% every 5-10 years.
To woman, after menopause, it plunges further (this is the main reason women report gaining weight and having difficulties losing it despite sticking to their regular diet).
The proper functioning of the lymphatic system can be affected by various factors, from stress and sedentary lifestyle to heart, endocrine and circulatory diseases. When this happens, the lymph flow is congested, toxins accumulate and the tissues swell.
There are also situations in which cellulite intensifies, and may even exacerbate certain health problems. The lymphatic system is a barrier of the body against diseases and infections, being made up of vessels, nodules, lymph and lymphocytes, also including the tonsils, spleen and thymus.
2.How is lymphatic drainage performed?
Lymphatic drainage can be done in two mode: manually and using a modern system, which consists of a suit that covers the abdomen and legs, connected to the regulator.
The therapy is non-invasive and has no side effects, based on the pressure that is applied to the body.
The suit used for this procedure consists of several independent compartments, small in size, which during the drainage are inflated with air, alternately pressing one or the other part of the body, from the legs to the upper area, in the direction of the lymph flow.
Lymphatic drainage does not cause any pain and is really relaxing. If there is any discomfort or numbness in the legs, the pressure can be adjusted while the session is in progress. In patients with epilepsy, liver, kidney or heart disease, those with acute venous disease or pregnant women, lymphatic drainage is not indicated.
3.The benefits of lymphatic drainage
a. Lymphatic drainage helps accelerate the elimination of toxins and the process by which the body regenerates, its positive effects being multiple.
b. Ensures an efficient regeneration and defence of the body, due to the fact that the lymph circulates better; because the residues in the interstitial spaces are evacuated faster, the immune system becomes stronger and is more effective in fighting viruses or bacteria;
c. Helps to relax the muscles, relaxing them under the pressure that is applied in one area or another of the body;
d. Partially removes the feeling of “heavy feet”, eliminating water retention and reducing the appearance of swollen feet;
c. Helps to improve skin firmness because, in addition to lymph, blood circulation is also stimulated when pressure is applied to the peripheral veins, thus toning the skin;
e. Helps reduce cellulite, being a great way to reshape the body; the blood is well oxygenated, the skin maintains its elasticity and pleasant appearance;
f. Contributes to the stimulation of digestion, due to the fact that the abdominal massage helps to set in motion the digestive tract, supporting its proper functioning;
g. Reduces inflammation caused by exertion, injury or resulting from surgery; excess fluid is eliminated more quickly due to drainage, which prevents or relieves tissue inflammation and soothes pain.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The optimal duration of such a massage is between 45min -1 hour.
Ideally, you should do at least two cure a year. A cure involves 6-10 sessions, which can be administered every week.
There is no limitation on the number of treatments received.
You are required to drink water before and after treatment
It is required to drink water before and after treatment, to protect and don’t leave the skin tissue, or to don’t dehydration the body (which may be the result of invigorating the lymphatic system).
